Who is more powerful: Michael or Satan?

(This answer is brought to us by Kay Scribner)

Angels are divided by rank, etc. so they each have different responsibilities. There are twice as many "good angels" as "bad angels" so there is more help at the disposal of the good ones (i.e. Michael) Michael is the military leader (Rev 12:7) and his responsibility specifically is to watch over Israel (which we know because of observing his activities in scripture.) In Daniel 10:21 he is referred to as "Michael your prince."

Michael is called the archangel which may mean he was head of that rank of angelic beings. His name means "who is like God." Even though he is great in power, when Michael was disputing with Satan about the body of Moses, he deferred to God and said "The Lord rebuke thee" (Jude 9) rather than doing that himself.

Lucifer's description in Ez. 28:11-19 tells of his beauty and perfection. He was probably the worship leader in heaven. Pride went to his head. The scope of his territory, once he was cast out of heaven, and the methods he uses to deceive and trick others to follow after him could make him appear more powerful. He is ruler of the fallen angels and the world system. His power and activity are directed primarily against God. Since we know what happens to him in the end, his power is limited and will come to an end.
